RadioShake Privacy Policy

Overview

RadioShake is a free internet radio player for Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data RadioShake collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

RadioShake does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

Specifically:

• We do not require account creation or login
• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or location
• We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs
• We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone (beyond audio playback), or files

Data Stored on Your Device

RadioShake stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Favourite stations — stations you mark as favourites
• Listening history — recently played stations
• Cached station data — station metadata from radio-browser.info for offline access
• App preferences — your theme and playback settings

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

Third-Party Services

RadioShake connects to the following external services to function:

• radio-browser.info — a free, open, community-maintained directory of internet radio stations. When you browse or search for stations, RadioShake queries this API. The API may log your IP address per its own privacy policy.
• Radio station streams — when you play a station, your device connects directly to that station's stream server. Each station operator has their own privacy practices.
• flagcdn.com — used to display country flag images. No personal data is sent.

About This Website

radioshake.media (this site) uses self-hosted Umami analytics to count anonymous aggregate pageviews. No cookies are set, no personal data is collected, no cross-site tracking. Analytics data is stored on our own server.

This applies only to the radioshake.media website. The RadioShake Android app itself remains analytics-free as described above.

Regional Availability

To respect music-licensing rules in certain territories, the curated station directory shown in RadioShake varies by region. In the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (the EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the curated directory is limited to stations from your own country; international browsing, the country picker and the radio map are hidden. Everywhere else, the full global directory is available.

Your region is determined on your device from your mobile network or SIM country code, falling back to your device's language/region setting. RadioShake does not use GPS and has no servers of its own. When the directory is region-limited, your country code is included as a filter in the request to radio-browser.info (the same request that, like any web request, exposes your IP address to that service). Your region is never stored, profiled, or used for advertising or tracking, and this setting only affects which curated stations are listed — you can always add and play your own custom stream URLs regardless of region.

Permissions

• Internet — required to stream radio stations and fetch station data
• Foreground Service (Media Playback) — required to keep audio playing when the app is in the background
• Wake Lock — prevents the device from sleeping during playback
• Bluetooth Connect — used to auto-resume playback when Bluetooth audio connects
• Post Notifications — used to show the media playback notification

Children's Privacy

RadioShake does not knowingly collect data from children. The app does not collect data from anyone.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
